2021 the 6th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning (ICDEL 2021) has been held
successfully in full virtual style again on May 21-24, 2021 due to the pervasive restrictions imposed on
international travel and the pandemic's uncertainty.
Online check in for all participants was arranged on May 21, 2021. At the beginning of the conference on May
22, 2021, Conference Chair: Assoc. Prof. Rui Zhang, Tongji University, China delivered the opening remarks
to welcome all participants to attend the conference. Then Prof. Matthew Ohland, IEEE Fellow, Purdue
University, USA, Prof. LOOI Chee Kit, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University,
Singapore, and Prof. Mario Barajas Frutos, University of Barcelona, Spain delivered the keynote speeches
related to Metrics for Measuring Team Health and Student Team Experiences, What Covid-19 Tells us about
Distance Education and Learning: A Learning Sciences Perspective, etc. At the same time, 1 plenary speaker:
Assoc. Prof. Yu-Mei Wang, University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA and several invited speakers: Assoc.
Prof. Hui-Wen Huang, Fujian University of Technology, China; Prof. M.V. Pogodaeva, Irkutsk State University,
Russia; Dr. Nikita Mamedov, North America International School, China; Assoc. Prof. Yi Yang, Southern
Medical University, China also shared their speeches related to latest researches.
Meanwhile, there were 7 technical sessions for authors' presentations from May 22-24, 2021. These
sessions' topics were related to Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology in Education,
Education Informatization and Digital Teaching, Distance Education and Talent Cultivation, Online Learning
and Assessment, etc. After sessions ends, 1 best student paper award, and several best presenter awards were
selected based on papers' content, presentation skill, etc.
